Orleans Community Schools Board of Trustees Announces Vacancy Due to Resignation

The Orleans Community Schools Board of Trustees announces an upcoming vacancy on the school board following the resignation of board member Bill Crane. Mr. Crane will be stepping down from his position due to an upcoming move that places him outside of the district boundaries.

Mr. Crane has served the Orleans community with dedication and integrity, and the Board extends its sincere gratitude for his service and commitment to the students, staff, and families of Orleans Community Schools.

In accordance with Indiana Code and district policy, the Board will begin the process of filling the vacant seat. Individuals interested in serving on the Orleans Community Schools Board of Trustees must reside within the Orleans Community Schools district and meet all legal eligibility requirements.

Interested candidates should contact the Superintendent’s Office to request a questionnaire and learn more about the application process. The completed questionnaire will be used by the Board as part of its review and selection process.

The Board anticipates appointing a new member in time for the individual to participate in their first official meeting in October 2025. The appointed member will serve the remainder of the unexpired term, which runs through December 31, 2028.

The Orleans Community Schools Board remains committed to ensuring a transparent and timely process and looks forward to welcoming a new member to help continue the district’s mission of excellence in education.
