Did you ever want to send someone a data file that you had been working on, or how about that picture that you wanted to share with them? You can do it with email by what is called an attachment. This How-To deals with inserting attachments to your emails and opening attachments that someone else has sent to you. Since some of these How-To articles details are rather long and I have them in Word format in the future I will probably send some as attachments to emails.

To Insert an attachment -

Do one of the following:

Insert a file

  1. Create or open the item in which you want to insert an attachment.
  2. Click in the body of the item, and then click Insert File .
  3. Click the file that you want to attach, and then click Insert. Click the down arrow Arrow pointing downfor a list of options for inserting the file.
  4. In a message, click Send, and in any other type of item, click Save and Close.

Note   By default, Microsoft Outlook blocks attachment files ( such as .bat, .exe, .vbs, and .js) that can contain viruses. You will be asked whether you want to send a potentially unsafe attachment. If you answer Yes, Outlook will send the attachment.

  1. Create or open the item in which you want to insert an attachment.
  2. Click in the body of the item.
  3. If Microsoft Word is your e-mail editor, click the arrow next to the paper clip icon , and then click Item. Otherwise, from the Insert menu, click Item.
